Richard Powers Waltz Weekend

About The Waltz Weekend

The primary focus of the workshop will be waltzing, including cross-step waltz and rotary waltz. More information about the dances to be taught will be available later. The weekend will be held at the Russel Acton Folk Center in Berea, KY (about 40 miles south of Lexington).

The weekend will start with a class 7:30 pm Friday and conclude Sunday at 1:00 pm. Attendance is by pre-registration only and will be role-balanced. The prerequisite for attendance is knowing any form of basic waltz (rotary, cross-step, box, Viennese...). Tuition will be $90, except that a limited number of students may register for $45. Because space is limited to 60 people, we expect registration to fill quickly.

Saturday Evening Dance

Deejayed by Richard Powers

The Saturday night dance is included with your weekend registration. Dancers not registered for the weekend may also attend by paying $15 for couples or $10 for singles ($5 for students) at the door. This ball will be proctored by Richard Powers using his selection of recorded music. We will enjoy dances from several vintage eras, from the 1800s to the early 1900s, as well as contemporary music. No costuming is required, but change your T-shirt or leotard for something more dressy and festive. For the greater enjoyment of all, please come with a dancing partner.

You can register online and pay via credit card (recommended), or you can download the registration form and send it with payment to the address below.

To be confirmed, all applicants must pay for the weekend within 7 days of registering.

Also, we must be able to match you with another person dancing opposite lead/follow role, so we encourage you to specify a partner on your registration form. If you do not specify a partner, you will be put on a waiting list and matched with a person of opposite role in order of registration. We will notify you when we confirm your acceptance.

If you cancel before Oct. 1, we will refund your fee minus $10. Cancelations on or after Oct. 1 will not be refunded.
