About The Waltz Weekend
The primary focus of the workshop will be waltzing, including cross-step waltz and rotary waltz. We will also learn a dance from the Ragtime period and possibly other dances of Richard's choice. The weekend will be held at the Russel Acton Folk Center in Berea, KY (about 40 miles south of Lexington).
The weekend will start with a class 7:30 pm Friday and conclude Sunday at 1:00 pm. Attendance is by pre-registration only and will be gender-balanced. The only prerequisite for attendance is knowing any form of basic waltz (rotary, cross-step, box, Viennese...). Tuition will be $75, except that a limited number of students may register for $50. Because space is limited to 75 people, we expect registration to fill quickly.

Saturday Evening Dance
Deejayed by Richard Powers
The Saturday night dance is included with your weekend registration. Dancers not registered for the weekend may also attend by paying $10 ($6 for students) at the door. This ball will be proctored by Richard Powers using his selection of recorded music. We will enjoy dances from several vintage eras, from the 1800s to the early 1900s, as well as contemporary music. No costuming is required, but change your T-shirt or leotard for something more dressy and festive.
